Editions of the Moss Haggadah

In 1983, David Moss was commissioned to produce an individual, hand-made haggadah, in the tradition of the medieval illuminated manuscript. On its completion, it was so well received by all who saw it, that it's owner, Richard Levy, graciously agreed to allow David to reproduce the work as a facsimile edition. Because the work, created on vellum, contained paper cuts, gold and silver and many complicated features, we began a research project to see if we could find a printer who was capable of reproducing this work in look and feel. In 1986, with the help of Martio Mardersteig of the prestigious press, Stamperia Valdonega, produced 500 examples of this work, entitled Song of David. The haggadah is in two volumes, one volume containing the body of the haggadah and another containing David's introduction and commentary on the work. This commentary is an extraordinary teaching and study piece on the meaning of Passover. These haggadahs, which are in all the large collecting libraries and private collections are now out of print. From time to time copies become available and anyone interested should contact the publisher. The last copy sold for $35,000.

Due to the overwhelming success of the Song of David Facsimile Haggadah, Bet Alpha Editions produced the Moss Haggadah, a hardcover edition with the commentary included.
